Changing Mindsets

Figures released by Make UK and Westfield Health last year revealed that less than 15% of manufacturers currently assess risks to mental health, compared to 60% who carry out physical risk intervention.

This highlights a previously undiscovered threat to industry’s productivity and something that In-Comm Training is keen to put right, especially with World Mental Health Day taking place next week Thursday (10th October).

We have invested in sending our trainers on a number of specialist sessions that will see us qualified to launch a suite of courses designed to help companies identify mental health issues and the best ways to support their employees.

These will launch in 2020 and include:

Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health

This 4-hour course provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions, how to start a supportive conversation and when/how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help. Learners will know how to recognise and manage stress.

First Aid for Mental Health

A 6-hour qualification that features all of the above and will help learners to recognise and manage stress and understand the impact of substance abuse. They will learn about the first aid action plan for mental health, be able to put it in place and know how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.

Supervising First Aid for Mental Health

This 12-hour qualification provides learners with all of the skills of the First Aid for Mental Health course, along with the tools and techniques to help successfully implement and manage it in the workplace.

We have invested in sending our trainers on a number of specialist sessions that will see us qualified to launch a suite of courses designed to help companies identify mental health issues and the best ways to support their employees.
