A Programme for practising production personnel designed to increase awareness and knowledge in aspects of related activities, designed to assess the Candidate's competence against NVQ Level 2 standards and where necessary agree development plans.

The advice and assessment process will be delivered at the Candidates place of work. Advisor and Assessor visits will be by prior arrangement and made so as to minimise any disruption in the work place. The Candidates Line Manager will be included in the process through a Management Development Agreement.

• Initial Assessment - This initial stage of the process involves working with an Advisor to review the Candidates work role and experience, after which the appropriate level of qualification can be determined
• The Qualification is made up of 3 mandatory units, all of which must be completed, and a choice of 1 optional unit
• Mandatory Units (all units must be completed)Prepare resources for routine engineering activities Reinstate the work area after engineering activities Contribute to the effectiveness of work activities
• Optional Units (any 1 module)Operate computer controlled engineering processes Shape engineering products by material removal using hand tools Shape engineering products by material removal by using machines Produce engineering products by manual forming of materials Produce engineering products by machine controlled pressure shaping operations Produce cast engineering products through manual operations Produce cast engineering products through machine operations Join engineering materials through thermal joining operations
